Policy Challenges Conference: Bridging Research and Practice: Teacher Quality
November 2007
This regional conference in Providence, Rhode Island, provided a rich opportunity for discussion of research findings on policy challenges including: reducing teacher turnover, attracting and retaining high-quality teachers, supporting new teachers, improving teacher-preparation program accountability, and making the best use of paraprofessionals. Dr. Richard Ingersoll of the University of Pennsylvania and Consortium for Policy Research in Education gave the keynote address: “The Teacher Shortage: A Case of Wrong Diagnosis and Wrong Prescription.” Video available.
