Defining, measuring, and rewarding teacher effectiveness is a challenge facing schools, districts, and states nationwide. In this webinar co-hosted with the New England Comprehensive Center and the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality, Dr. Douglas Harris presented current research on value-added models for measuring teacher effectiveness. Dr. Harris is an economist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison who researches how education policies influence the level and equity of student educational outcomes.

Among the webinar participants were representatives from the New England Collaborative for Educator Quality and Effectiveness (NECEQE), a newly formed initiative comprised of teacher-effectiveness leaders from each of the six New England states. After learning from Dr. Harris about the research base on value-added models, participants posed questions and engaged in dialogue about specific strategies for implementing such models in their states.
