The Regional Educational Laboratory Network consists of ten laboratories across the U.S. Each REL serves the educational needs of a designated region by providing access to high quality, scientifically valid education research through applied research and development projects, studies, and other related technical assistance activities.

Institute for Education Sciences
IES brings rigorous and relevant research, evaluation and statistics to our nation’s education system.

Doing What Works
Doing What Works is a new website sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, and is dedicated to helping educators identify and make use of effective teaching practices.

What Works Clearinghouse
The What Works Clearinghouse was established in 2002 by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences to provide educators, policymakers, researchers, and the public with a central and trusted source of scientific evidence of what works in education.

The Campbell Collaboration
The Campbell Collaboration is an international nonprofit organization that aims to help people make well-informed decisions about the effects of interventions in the social, behavioral, and educational arenas. Campbell’s systematic reviews are published electronically so that they can be updated promptly as relevant additional evidence emerges and amended in the light of criticisms and advances in methodology.

Comprehensive Centers Network
The Comprehensive Centers Network consists of 16 Comprehensive Centers (CC) and 5 Content Centers located throughout the country. The US Department of Education established the CC Network to provide technical assistance services focused on the state departments of education and the implementation of reform programs.

Education Commission of the States (ECS)
ECS is an interstate compact created to improve public education by facilitating the exchange of information, ideas and experiences among state policymakers and education leaders. Forty-nine states, three territories and the District of Columbia constitute the commission’s current membership. ECS regularly issues compilations, summaries and/or comparisons of state policies — enacted or pending — on a wide variety of education topics.

National Center for Education Statistics
NCES is the primary federal entity that collects and analyzes data related to education.
