Duncan Urges States to Submit Applications

On May 18th, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan urged states to submit applications for State Fiscal Stabilization Funds as quickly as possible, saying teaching jobs are at risk and reforms must move forward. Read the press release. The Fed also modified guidance on school construction.

Last week, Connecticut added information to its Recovery website about the National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant, which provides competitive grants for the purchase of food service equipment by National School Lunch Program Sponsors as authorized by the ARRA.  (Download the RFP. Last week, CT SDE’s Bureau of Special Education posted applications for two special education grant programs: (1) Assistance to States for the Education of Children with Disabilities and (2) Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities. The purpose of this Supplemental IDEA, Part B, grant is to provide the stimulus funds from the ARRA to eligible applicants (LEAs) to assist with the excess costs of providing special education and related services to children with disabilities. On May 14th, Vermont IDEA-B Basic and Pre-School Flow Through Application Forms for Regular Grant Funds and ARRA Funds for FY 2010 became available. You can view the forms and information needed to apply for FY-2010 IDEA-B Basic and Pre-School Flow Through grants. This includes both the regular grant funds and the funds made available for IDEA-B under the ARRA.
