CT Seeks Over $8M for Longitudinal Data System

On December 10th, the Connecticut State Department of Education submitted its application for more than $8 million to improve the state’s longitudinal data system.

On December 7th, Connecticut Commissioner of Education Mark McQuillan announced the RFP for the Young Parent Program (YPP). The purpose of the YPP is to assist local and regional boards of education with the establishment or maintenance of education programs with daycare components for students who are parents. The RFP is available on the department’s website and application are due December 18th.

On December 8th, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education posted the PowerPoint presentation for its recent Race to the Top Regional Forums

On December 8th, the New York State Department of Education posted a document announcing that the ARRA Reporting System is open to collect second-quarter data, which is required of all ARRA recipients. Reports are due from sub-recipients on December 30th. An accompanying online quarterly-reporting instruction document also was posted.

Rhode Island Education Commissioner Deborah Gist announced in her weekly Field Memo on December 4th that she scheduled a superintendents’ meeting on the state’s Race to the Top application, to be held Thursday, December 17th, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Center for School Leadership, Building 6, Rhode Island College. At this meeting, attendants will discuss the specifics of the Race to the Top application and review the funding support that Race to the Top could bring to local education agencies as well as the opportunities for districts to sign on as partners, either as “participating districts” or as “involved districts.”
