Massachusetts Posts Draft Race to the Top Plans

On December 16th, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education posted its Memorandum of Understanding for districts to participate in Race to the Top initiatives. They also posted two documents summarizing the Massachusetts Race to the Top proposal. The PowerPoint presentation gives an overview of the Race to the Top grant competition and what is at stake for Massachusetts; the Word document is a detailed summary of the initiatives the state intends to propose. The department welcomes comments, asking that they be framed around these questions:

  • Do you think the Massachusetts vision for students is compelling? How would you improve it?
  • Which initiatives merit the greatest investment of Race to the Top dollars? How would you improve them?
  • Do any initiatives concern you? What would the state have to change to alleviate that concern?

Comments and questions must by submitted to rttt@doe.mass.edu no later than Monday, January 4th, 2010.
